A Devotional Day with Lot of Thoughts

I visited Sree Padmanabhaswami temple today. This is my fifth visit to the temple situated in the capital city. Among those visists this is a very special one to me because currently Padmanabhan is the hero for the global media. A mammoth collection of precious stones and gold has been found from the vault beside the deity.

Honorable Supreme Court of India ordered to explore the bounty which had been locked away for 130 years. A group of retired Judges and other responsible persons opened this vault. These guys opened the vault and made an inventory of precious wealth of Sree Padmanabha. The committee have not calculated the antique value of the treasure; they just markdown the number and the weight. The approximate price of the treasure is more than a trillion rupees.

The temple is under the control of his highness Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma, from a royal family, the family who ruled the Trivandrum (Travancore) for more than 9 centuries. These kings were benevolent and the strong followers of Padmanabha Swamy. They believed that the kingdom belongs to Swamy and they were the delegates of the Lord. They offered gold and diamond to Padmanabha. Kings had business deals with Arabs and Europians. These alleys also offered the same to Padmanabha Swamy in order to please both God and the King.

As I mentioned earlier all vaults were opened by the Supreme Court and calculated the wealth. Channels and news papers have exclusive coverage about this incident and it unleashed a series of discussions among all caste and religions. Everybody is concerned about the treasure and its future. This has triggered many controversies. Hindu unions and movements are opposing the move to show the treasure in front of the public.

I don’t know what will be the decision of the Supreme Court but whatever it is Padmanabha Swamy is watching and listening to all these scenes in his yoga nidra.

I will post my views and opinion soon…..
